Dirk Kempthorne
Dirk Arthur Kempthorne (born in 1951) is a Politician, member of the Republican party, Maire of Boise 1986 with 1993, senator of the Idaho to the Congrès of the United States of 1993 with 1999, governor of the state of 1999 with 2006 and Secrétaire inside of the United States starting from the May 26th 2006.
Biography
Born the October 29th 1951, Dirk Kempthorne was initially of 1986 with 1993 the mayor of Boise, the capital of Idaho. In November 1992, it is elected as a republican with the senate of the the United States gaining the seat of the outgoing republican holder Steven Symms, which was not represented.
In 1998, Kempthorne decided not to be represented with the senate but to be presented to the post of governor of Idaho.
In November 1998, Kempthorne is elected governor receiving 68% of the votes compared with 29% with its democratic adversary Robert Huntley.
In January 1999, it succeeds thus the republican Phil Batt and is re-elected in 2002 with 56% of the votes compared with 42% with its democratic opponent Jerry Brady. In December 2005, he is the 21st most popular governor of the country with a rate of approval of 59%, ex æquo with the governors Tim Pawlenty of the Minnesota and Michael Easley of North Carolina (bearing SurveyUSA Survey on 600 residents of each state carried out from December 9th to 11th 2005. Margin of error of 4%).
The March 16th 2006, it is named Secrétaire inside the United States by President George W. Bush. Its nomination is confirmed by the Senate the May 26th 2006. It lends oath the June 7th 2006.
