Direction of the museums of France
The Direction of the Museums of France is a service of the Central administration French Ministère of the Culture, in charge of the application of the French policy as regards Musée S. It fixes the rules as regards management of the museums, in particular to facilitate the conservation and the study of protected works by these museums, like ensuring the Sécurité. It coordinates the scientific and teaching activity French museums. It ensures a technical control and scientist as well as a function of expertise on the whole of the Musées of France. Civils servant of the DMF ensure the activities of supervision on several public corporations:
- School of Louvre
- Museum of Louvre
- Museum of Orsay
- Museum of the quay Branly
The Management of the museums of France is installed 6 Rue of the Pyramids, 75041 Paris.
It includes/understands:
- the General inspection of the museums;
- the department of the collections;
- the department of public, the educational action and the cultural diffusion;
- the department of the professions and the personnel;
- the department of architecture, the museography and the equipment;
- the department of the financial, legal and general affairs;
- the mission of the communication;
- the mission of safety;
- an operations manager for Europe and the international one.
