Dipsacaceae

The family of the Dipsacacées is a family of plants Dicotylédone S which includes/understands 150 species distributed of 14 kinds:

  • Cephalaria, Dipsacus, Knautia, Lomelosia, Pseudoscabiosa, Pterocephalidium, Pterocephalus, Pycnocomon, Scabiosa, Scabiopsis, Sixalix, Succisa, Succisella, Tremastelma .
They are plants herbaceous annual, bi-annual or perennial originating in the moderate areas of the northern hemisphere.

One can quote in the flora of France, the Scabieuse S (kind Scabiosa or Knautia ) and the Cardère S (kind Dipsacus ).

The Classification APG II (2003) suggests, optionnellement, including this family in that of the Caprifoliacées sensu lato with all the families about the Dipsacales , except the Adoxacées. This proposal does not make however consensus in the scientific community and the individual families are still largely recognized.
