Diocese of Lisieux
The diocese of Lisieux is established on the city of the Lexovii, Gallic people subjected to the Roman authority. The capital of this city, Noviomagus , then becomes the seat of évéché which will take the name of Lisieux.
History
Origins
The diocese of Lisieux was probably created in the neighborhoods of 538 following a recutting of the dioceses in the area. Thus, the diocese was formed on a big part of the old diocese of Exmes (then removed with the profit of the dioceses of Lisieux and Séez), and on a few pieces of the close dioceses (in particular Bayeux). Thus, Thibaud is known like first bishop of Lisieux; it is present at IIIe Concile of Orleans into 538, which perhaps ratifies this territorial change.
