Diocese of Edmundston
The diocese of Edmundston , in the province of the New Brunswick, with the Canada, was canonically set up the December 16th 1944 starting from the territory of the Diocèse of Bathurst. Its bishop is Mgr François Thibodeau. Its highly skilled bishop is Mgr Gerard Dionne. Its episcopal see is the Cathédrale of the Immaculate-Design of Edmundston. It is the Suffragant of the Archidiocèse of Moncton, which has as an archbishop Mgr André Richard.
This diocese has a surface of 12.838 km ². It there more than 49.800 catholics in the diocese, nearly 95% of the total population. Forty priests exert their ministry there. The number of priests fell of more than twice in forty years. The area of Edmundston shelters the acadian community and populates it Malécites. There are thirty-two parishes in the diocese and five zones patrorales (High Madawaska, Large-Sault Edmundston, , Restigouche and Victoria-South).
