Dinosaur Jr

Dinosaur Jr is a group of independent Rock and experimental belonging to the pillars of the Grunge. Their kind is based on a frequent use of the Solo S of Guitare.

Biography

Jay Mascis and Lou Barlow played initially in a group of hardcore Punk named Deep Wound between 1982 and 1984 at the sides of future members of the Outpatients before creating Dinosaur. The group first of all started under the name of Dinosaur, but quickly changed because another group bearing the same name threatened them of law-suits if they did not modify it. Then the suffix " was added; Jr.". The group leaves its first three albums under its original formation, then Lou Barlow leaves the group to form Sebadoh, Sentridoh and Folk Implosion.

The album which follows, " Green Mind" can be to some extent regarded as an album solo of Jay Mascis because it recorded only all the instruments. The group integrates then Mike Johnson into low for the concerts and the recording of the albums. In 1993, they take part in B.O. film Judgment Night with the rappor Del The Funky Homosapien. In 1997, on the last album, Murph, party to play with the Lemonheads, are replaced by George Berz.

In 2004, the group is reformed in its composition of origin within the framework in concerts.

In May 2007 Dinosaur Jr. leaves an album entitled " Beyond" on the Conceited label Possum Records with the original formation Jay Mascis/Lou Barlow/Murph.
