Dino Ferrari
The Ferrari Dino did not really exist. It made model with whole share under the mark Dino, model 246. Indeed, Enzo Ferrari refused to affix the initials Ferrari on a vehicle not having an engine of 12 cylinders, the only enough noble engine to be called Ferrari.
Nevertheless, the son of Ferrari being deceased little time ago, the new six-cylinder motor of the mark was selected to bear his name. And it will be a success. Dino 246 leaves by half-compartment (WP) and convertible (GTS) at the beginning the Années 1970. Less expensive than traditional Ferrari, it will be the machine with feelings of the mark. Particularly compact and with the collected style, fruit of the Master Pininfarina, it is to be brought closer to a Alpine Renault Berlinette. The bringing together stops however there, on the level of the price but also of the engine.
However Alpine uses of the 4 cylinders, V6 of the 246 WP is inimitable. Of a cubic capacity of 2,46 L, it goes up very well in the turns and posts astonishing performances for a power of " seulement" 204 ch. Sa sonority is incomparable, only Porsche made as well. The racing car posts a point to 240 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds.
It is with central engine and technology propulsion (normal considering the couple) what makes it difficult to control on slipping road. The engine will appear however fragile and pointed. Although sold in great quantity, it is done rare in collection, and its exclusiveness explodes the tariffs, so that it is more expensive than of true Ferrari.
To note: The engine will be also used in other models of the group FIAT like the FIAT Dino (2.4 " dégonflé" with 190 ch) drawn by Bertone for the half-compartment and Pininfarina for the spider (very different), but also splendid the Lancia Stratos. This engine was regarded a long time as a reference on the matter.
Dino Ferrari was seen in the series Amicalement Your with Tony Curtis and the FIAT Dino is the car of Gil Jourdan.
