Synopsis

Glauco (Michel Piccoli), originator of gas masks, returns at his place to dine, after having listened, not without a certain trouble, a speech subversive of one of his/her colleagues. It finds his wife (Anita Pallenberg) already lying (she is suffering). It decides to only dine by looking at television, in particular a report with the glory of Fausto Coppi. Then it projects various films of holidays and makes the idiot in front of the screen. After some erotic plays with its good (Annie Girardot), it ends up killing his wife by means of a revolver which it found by chance wrapped in an old newspaper announcing the death of the American gangster Dillinger. Previously, it had restarted the revolver and had had fun to paint it clownesques colors. At the end of film, it embarks on a yacht of which the young person propiétaire (Carole André) the recruiting as cook.

Awakening by a middle-class man of the nonsense of the life in the consumer society, this film is a kind of fable absurdity and cynical, kind in which excelled Marco Ferreri, of which it is perhaps the masterpiece.
