beginnings of Dijon :
Dijon remains a long time a fortified town of the oval balloon (XIII and XV). In spite of this unfavourable context, the Dijonese Laic Circle, founded in 1936, reaches in DH of Burgundy as of its creation in 1945 following the scission between Burgundy and Franche-Comté. In spring 1960, the club celebrates its first championship of Burgundy. This title, it was especially that of Julien Darui, international ex-guard reconverted at the post of trainer. This hardly acquired promotion, of the tuggings push Darui to leave its station.
Dijon does not manage to be maintained in CFA but finds the elite amateur as of 1962. Glovacki succeeding Danzelle at the post of trainer, Dijon presents a thorough formation then. The championship of the Center group CFA taken down in 1965 is the best illustration. Alas, this beautiful result is without a future. Refusing the possibility of passing professional in spite of the repeated proposals of the League, the Dijonese leaders cause the bursting of the team. The club plunges in DH as of 1967. After an ultimate return ticket in CFA (1969 - 1971), Dijon is satisfied with the DH.
Philippe Piat, ex-Dijonese, left in front of the refusal the leaders to reach the statute pro, return in the club of his beginnings. This leader of play of hardly more than thirty years turns into to wonders within a mainly made up team juniors. Promotion in D3 is obtained in spring 1974. The municipality greets this accession by equipping the municipal stage with electrical installations for the matches into night. Two puffing seasons later, Dijon finds the DH…
The club reaches then in division 2…
Dijon today :
In 1998 a new club is born. Two years only in CFA and a rise obtained in Calais at the time of the last day will be followed of a championship of France Amateur against Ales. Then in 2003, the club records the arrival of Rudi Garcia which goes professionnaliser the club. 2004 will be a great year: a very long course out of cut of France with the exploits to leave Saint-Etienne, Lens, Rheims and Amiens before falling to Chateauroux and a rise League 2 of them acquired vis-a-vis Romorantin. In spite of few means and insufficient infrastructures, the Burgundian club since then remains in the first part of table of the championship (4th in 2005, 5th in 2006 then 8th in 2007) and ambitionne maintaining to go up in League 1. A new stage is in project as well as the training center and a new center of drive. The s2004-2005 also sees the separation of the club in two entities: pro and amateur.
June 2007 marks the end of the era Garcia which will involve Mans and the departure of much of frameworks like Asuar, Avezac towards Ajaccio, Masson towards Brest or Gregoire with the retirement. It is a true cure of renovation which the DFCO undergoes. The new trainer is Serge Romano which ambitionne to bring the club towards the French elite.
