Digital Hippocratism

The digital hippocratism is a deformation of the Ongle S. One also speaks about " fingers out of rods of tambour" or of " clubbing". The nails are bent, rounded upwards.

Hippocrates, there is more than 2500 years was the first to describe this anomaly. This clinical sign is observed in many diseases such as chronic respiratory diseases, cardiopathies cyanogens, inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract or at the time of hepatic diseases.

Physiopathology remains unknown but it seems that certain growth factors are implied (PDGF, VEGF) and that the plates play a part.

One of the frequent causes is the existence of a bronchial cancer.
