Digicode

A digicode (mark used as common noun) is an electronic type of Serrure which opens by seizing a Secret code on a Numeric keypad.

Invention of French Bob Career in 1970.

With the entry of a building

It is in particular employed on the carries S of Immeuble S to limit the access of them, and is used then of alternative or complement to the Interphone. In this case, it is sometimes also equipped with a key Serrure with to give access to the employees of the companies requiring a regular access to the building (for example hands maintenance, factor, employed company of electricity, Ouvrier S, etc).

Popular culture

A sketch of the Humoriste French Marc Jolivet puts in scene a drunk Homme wishing to return at his place in the middle of the Nuit while having forgotten the code of entry, which tries to speak with the digicode as it did it with the Concierge at the time where this device did not exist.

Inside a building

The digicodes are also used inside buildings to limit the access of a Salle or a sector to a category of users. The room of the trunks of a Banque is the typical example of this use, even if other more sophisticated systems supplemented it or supplanted.

The digicodes are also used in certain establishments of Fast-food industry to reach the Toilette S, the code being registered on the Sales slip, in order to only hold the access to the customers.
