Dieudonné Yougbaré
Dieudonné Yougbaré , born the February 16th 1917 with Koupéla (Burkina Faso), is a Burkinabe catholic bishop.
Biography
After studies at the clerical School of Koupéla (1923-1928), with the Small seminar of Pabré and the Great seminar of Koumi, it is ordered priest the April 8th 1945 with Ouagadougou. It is initially named as vicar with the parish of Pabré, then professor with the Small seminar of this same city. In 1948, he is vicar with Ouagadougou, and cleaned of Pabré the following year.
Cleaned Garango as from the April 25th 1954, it is named bishop of Koupéla the February 29th 1956; its episcopal ordination takes place on July 8th, 1956: it is devoted by the cardinal Gerlier, in the presence of Mgr Marcel Lefebvre, apostolic delegate for Western Africa and archbishop of Dakar, and Mgr Emile Socquet, archbishop of Ouagadougou. Dieudonné Yougbaré is established three days later on the new episcopal see of Koupéla, created on February 20th, 1956 by the pope Pie XII by division of the Archidiocèse of Ouagadougou. The diocese counted at the time approximately twelve thousand baptized catholic, and a score of priests.
Mgr Yougbaré is at the time the first black residential bishop of French Western Africa. There remains bishop of Koupéla until June 1st, 1995, date on which he takes his retirement, being replaced by Mgr Rouamba Seraph. It settles then in the town of Bagré, with 90 kilometers in the south of Koupéla.
