Diego Rivera (December 8th 1886 with Guanajuato - November 24th 1957 with San Ángel) is a Mexican painter known for its Fresque S mural.

Biography

It goes to Europe 1907 initially to Barcelona, then with Paris to live and work among the artists of Montparnasse. It binds friendship with Modigliani, which makes its portrait in 1914.

During its passably agitated life, it had a connection during six years with the painter Marie Vorobieff (Marevna), but Maria with Angelina Beloff, of which it had a son who died in low age. It in addition had several other children of mistresses with whom it maintained short relations. He never assumed however his paternities. To the beginning of the year 1920, it went back to Mexico where it was interested, by the means of the policy, with the extreme-left. There, it carried out its first Mural where appeared of the Mexican ethnic subjects in a political context. Will rivet created much, often to tackle the church and the clergy. With artists like Jose Lenient Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Rufino Tamayo, it started to be tested with the frescos, on large walls, in a simplified style and by employing bright colors in phase with the topics of the civil war of the years 1910. Some of its emblématiques frescos are with the national palate in Mexico City and the national school of agriculture in Chapingo. Will rivet in painted several with the the United States, which he visited with the beginning of the year 1930 and also in 1940, privileging the industrial topics especially. Its more famous fresco is at the institute of arts of Détroit.

After several marriages and adventures in love, it was presented to Frida Kahlo, militant a Communiste and painter enjoying a certain dimension. It went to Moscow, but was expelled for anti-Soviet activities. In 1929, it returned to Mexico City. Will rivet, at the 43 years age, married Frida, 22 years its junior.

In 1933, its fresco Homme with the crossroads for the Rockefeller Center of New York was withdrawn following the reactions of the press to the fact that it contained a portrait of Lénine. After this media scandal, a commission cancelled an order planned for the international exhibition of Chicago. For its part, Rivera remembered it since on its later frescos, Rockefeller , become its némésis, is represented.

Having joined the international communist League, it sympathized with exiled Soviet the Leon Trotski, which lived at his place one moment. But they had a disagreement and Trotski had to leave the residence of Will rivet. He was assassinated little time afterwards.

Frida Kahlo died of a pneumonia in 1954. Will rivet contracted a rare form of Cancer, of which he died in 1957. Its skin was buried with the Panteón de Dolores in Mexico City…
