Diego Fernández de Córdoba

Diego Fernández de Córdoba , Marquis de Guadalcázar and Count de Posadas (Spanish: Gift Diego Fernández de Córdoba there López of mow Roelas Benavides there Melgarejo, marked of Guadalcázar there cop of Posadas ) (born with Seville, Spain in 1578; died the October 6th 1630 with Cordoue) was Vice-roi of News-Spain of the October 18th 1612 with the March 14th 1621 then Vice-roi of the Peru of the July 25th 1622 with the January 14th 1629.
Viceroy of News-Spain
Fernández de Córdoba is named Vice-roi of News-Spain by King Philippe III, of which it was hitherto the Chambellan.To the whole beginning of his mandate, the viceroy sends the Captain Diego Martínez de Hurdáiz to subdue a revolt of the Tehuecos to Sinaloa.
Martínez de Hurdáiz arrives to its ends after some battles. The Viceroy founds many cities, like Lerma (1613), Córdoba (1618) and Guadalcázar (1620). Córdoba, named in the honor of the viceroy, is partly founded to prevent the bands of petty thieves and the black slaves in escape to hold to ransom the travellers between Veracruz and Mexico City. It also finishes Strong San Diego with Acapulco.
In 1616, the system of drainage of the valley of Mexico City which for a long time is in construction but whose work was suspended since 1614, are started again. King Philippe charges the hydrograph Dutch Adrian Boot studied the project of drainage and with dealing with the operations. Boot goes to Mexico City (for wages of 100 ducats per month) and inspects already carried out work. Its opinion is that they are ineffective to drain the lakes, but that they can be used to deviate the course of the Río Cuautitlán, the major cause of the floods. Engineer Martínez offers to finish derivation with 300 men and 100 000 pesos, but work is delayed in waiting of the agreement of the King.
The November 16th 1616 another insurrection Indian, particularly bloody, bursts, this time among the Tepehuanes and the tribes close to north. It is led by cacique claiming to be the Son of the Sun and God of the Sky and the Earth. The rebels kill some missionaries Jésuite S and 200 Spanish and Mestizos of all ages and the two sexes. The governor of Durango, thanks to the assistance sent by the Viceroy, raises a militia. After three months of engagements, the rebels are demolished.
In the 1616 also dryness prevails causing the famine in News-Spain. In 1620 fire destroys most of Veracruz.
Fernández also improves the Assainissement and the water conveyance of Mexico City, finishing the aqueduct, comprising 900 arches, since Chapultepec in 1620. It establishes a court to control the purchase, the sale and the tax on the mercury, that the mines of News-Spain starts to produce. Thanks to these various improvement, it will be called el Buen Virrey (the good Viceroy).
Viceroy of Peru
In Peru, Fernández reforms the tax system and puts a term at the inter-family competitions which ensanglantaient the area. It strengthens Lima against the pirate raids. In 1629 it resigns of its load and returns to Spain, where it dies the following year.
