Diederik Korteweg

Diederik Johannes Korteweg (born the March 31st 1848 with Wood-the-Duke, dead the May 10th 1941 with Amsterdam) is a Mathématicien steady Dutch.

He is famous for his work on the solitary waves with Gustav de Vries, in particular the equation Korteweg-in Vries which is an partial derivative equation third order nonlinear. She was proposed the first time in 1895 by Korteweg and of Vries.

Korteweg was professor of 1881 to 1918 in Amsterdam.
