Church and religion

Dieden already has with the VIII {E}} century a égise or vault under the patronage of Saint Laurent. With the XIII {E} century one increases it and in XVe century, one remakes it and one adds a tower to it. Towards 1600, during the Guerre Eighty Year old (1568 - 1648) the church is given to the Protesting S and the Catholique S find for their devotions an asylum in the church of Demen. A statue, known as miraculous, from Notre-Dame is then transferred to Demen. The two localities disputed the care for this statue and brought each quantity of flowers. The priest, tired of the every day to cart faded flowers, hid the statue and did not leave it any more but for the processions. The church, become again catholic, was unused since years and fell towards 1960 gradually in ruin. The building was restored and accommodates currently a workshop of artist.

In the church is the tomb stone of Henri Singerdonck, one of the last inhabitants of the castle of Dieden. The castle is cut down towards 1876, but one always sees fossées, the head of the bridge, a cattle shed and the handing-over, and a be leading to the house, said of the manager .
