Mort on the Nile ( in Death one the Nile in the original editions in English) is a Detective novel of Agatha Christie, published in 1937, putting in scene one of the most famous investigations of the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.

Summary

The rich person and beautiful heiress Linnet Ridgeway éprend of Simon Doyle, promised in marriage of his best friend, Jacqueline de Bellefort, and marries it in the tread. The young grooms leave in honeymoon, but they are continued by the forsaken young woman, in their successive stages, as far as Egypt, where they remain in a hotel where also Hercule Poirot is who has a presentiment of a dramatic situation. Poirot, young grooms and their prosecuting, like various customers easy hotel are found fortuitously to go on a cruise on board the vapor S.S. Karnak … until the day when Linnet is assassinated.

Comment

The auteure rather combined to the memories of a first stay society man in Egypt with his/her mother, and those carried out with her husband, max, where the Archéologie and the archeologists formed whole part of the voyage. It had gone on besides a cruise with max in 1933.

Agatha Christie affirmed in connection with its book: “I think, myself, that the book is one of best of the series of voyages of Poirot. I think that the central situation is intrigante and has dramatic possibilities, and the three characters, Simon, Linnet, and Jacqueline, seem in my opinion being truths and alive. ”
