Die Zeit
Die Zeit ( Time ) is a German weekly magazine , the magazine of German intelligentsia. It is a newspaper of information and political analysis.
Leading line
Center, liberal and tolerant newspaper, it has several times oscillated between the center left and the center right. The magazine is made conspicuous by its very great physical dimension and its long and detailed articles.
History
The first number of Die Zeit appears with Hamburg the February 21st 1946 with the downstream of the British occupying forces. Its founders were Gerd Bucerius, Lovis H. Lorenz, Richard Tüngel and Ewald Schmidt di Simoni.Although published in Hamburg, the newspaper presents the blazon of the town of Bremen because of a historical accident: the town of Hamburg not wishing to be reproduced on a private newspaper, the free place in the model of the magazine was then taken by the city close to Bremen.
Great figure of the newspaper, Marion Gräfin Dönhoff officiates there of 1972 to its death in 2002. Dönhoff worked there in particular with old the German Chancelier Helmut Schmidt (starting from 1983), Josef Joffe and old the Délégué Federal government to the culture and the media Michael Naumann.
