Each receives 3500 guilders (2500 guilders with 2 players), an individual plate, a pawn, a figurine and four charts professions. Among the four charts profession, they choose three of them that they preserve, and give one in the pile from there.
Course of a part
Each turn of play is made up of two phases, a phase of bidding, then a phase of action.
Phase of bidding
The forests, ponds, parks, craftsmen, travelling acrobats, charts prestige and charts recruitment are the stakes of this phase to which all the players take share together. The first player, indicates an object for which it wishes to start the biddings. The other players can raise or pass. When all the players passed, except 1, this last gains the corresponding object. A new object is indicated for the following bidding. Gaining the preceding one cannot take part. There will be as much bidding than players around the table, so that each one can buy an object. However a type of object can be put at the biddings only one only time per turn. The interest of the forests, the ponds, the parks and the travelling acrobats is to increase the artistic value of works which will be created thereafter. That of the craftsmen, is to reduce the cost of construction of the buildings and to allow that two buildings builds in the field are touched, whereas it is initially prohibited. The charts prestige are as for them contracts, which, if they are filled at the conclusion of the part, will bring back additional points of prestige to the player. Whereas charts of recruitment, allow, as their name indicates it to recruit character having already be used by adversary (a character which already created a work), at any moment of the part.
Lastly, when a player builds a building, one places 2nd forest, one 2nd pond, or one 2nd park, it gains 3 points of prestige immediately.
Phase of action
Each one their turn, the players will be able to carry out 2 actions among 5:- To create a work.
- To build a building.
- To buy a chart profession.
- To buy a chart no-claims bonus.
- To institute a freedom.
To carry out a work corresponds to play in front of oneself, a chart profession. It is necessary for that the artistic value of work is higher than a minimal value indicated on the table of the scores. This minimal value necessary increases with each turn. Each professional indeed has his preferences concerning his work environment: a type of building, a type of landscape and a type of freedom. Any satisfied preference brings back points of artistic value, to which additional points for each travelling acrobat and each chart profession are added. It is also possible to still gain some points by playing a chart no-claims bonus. The total of the points of artistic value is multiplied by 100 and brings back the number corresponding of guilders to the player. It can then choose to spend the money which it has just received (completely or partially) to buy points of prestige, or to preserve it for the next biddings.
Put aside the creation of a work, which brings back money, all the other actions are paying.
At the end of the turn, one compares the value of all the works carried out during the turn. The player who carried out work having the greatest value gains 3 points of additional prestige.
End of the part
At the conclusion of 7 turns of play, the players having charts prestige reveal them and if they fill the required conditions advance their markers of prestige of the number of points indicated. The most advanced player on the scale of prestige is then declared victorious.
