Die Ärzte

Die Ärzte is a group German Punk originating in Berlin.

Die Ärzte is, with Die Toten Hosen, one of the German groups most popular, but remains little known in France although the title Männer sind Schweine (in French: “the men are pigs”) made speak about him by the appearance of Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) in synthesized images mixed with the quite real members with the group, which for the time (1998) was a first. Die Ärzte, which means in French “the doctors”, are also known under the name “Die beste Band der Welt” (“the best group of the world”), which they gave each other themselves. On the one hand, the group is characterized by a marked militancy: he is especially antifascist, the attacks against the néonazis being repeated in the texts and the clips of their songs, and they were at the origin of compilation Stop Chirac denouncing Jacques Chirac because of the decision of this one to take again the nuclear tests of 1995 to 1996. In addition, the popularity of Die Ärzte is closely related to their direction of quite particular humor and their intelligent words and sometimes provocantes, which explains why their success is limited to the German-speaking countries. In 1987, several their songs were prohibited to the minors, in particular Claudia hat 'nen Schäferhund (“Claudia has a German shepherd”, a song on the zoophilie), Schlaflied (“Lullaby”, on a child who is eaten by a monster) and Geschwisterliebe (“Love between brother and sister”, on the inceste)
