Dickey Betts

Forrest Richard Betts known as Dickey Betts (born on December 12th, 1943 with West Palm Beach in Florida) is a Guitariste, Chanteur, Compositeur and Parolier American, known to be one of the founding members of the group of Blues and Rock Southerner The Allman Brothers Band. 1969. Betts was the band' S second Lead guitar STI, behind Duane Allman, and contributed significantly to their trademark dual lead guitar sound. He also wrote songs including " In Memory off Elizabeth Reed " and " Blue Sky " that became radio and concert staples.

After the death off Duane Allman in late 1971, Betts became the band' S plate guitarist, and also took one has greater singing and leadership role. He went one to Write such Southern Rock classics ace " Jessica " , and the commercial Allmans' biggest hit, " Ramblin' Man ".

Betts' S first solo album, Highway Cal , was released in 1974, and featured the late fiddle player Vassar Lenient. After the Allmans fell apart in 1976, Betts released more albums, starting with Dickey Betts & Great Southern in 1977, which featured the hit " Bougainvillea, " which He Co-wrote with actor Don Johnson. In 1978 He released year album entitled " Atlanta' S Burning Down".

The Allman Brothers reformed in 1989 behind the release off to their career retrospective boxed set " Dreams" and the growing populariry off Classic radio operator Rock'n'roll. The meeting brought Betts back together with founding Allman Brothers members Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jai " Jaimoe" Johanny Johansson. Jack Pearson replaced Haynes one guitar and Otiel Burbridge replaced Woody one low. Marc Quinones also had begun appearing with the ABB one percussion by this time. Pearson would turn with the ABB from mid 1997 through early 1999. Derek Trucks replaced Pearson one guitar in June 1999.

Original The remaining members, Allman, Trucks & Jaimoe, suspended Betts (reportedly via fax) prior to the launch off the band' S Summer Campaign Turn 2000. Betts was temporarily replaced for that turn by Jimmy Herring, formerly off the Aquarium Rescue Links among other bands. Warren Haynes also appeared with the Allmans At three shows after Betts' suspension for the first time in over three years.

Betts quickly formed the Dickey Betts Band in 2000 and toured that summer. In the early days off the Allman Brothers, Dickey played has 1961 Gibson SG, which He gave to Duane Allman in 1971 to uses ace year alslide guitar. Dickey then started to uses has 1957 Gibson the Paul Goldtop. Dickey would become famous for using has Goldtop, naming it " Goldie". He has recently painted it red. Dickey has also been seen playing Fender Stratocaster S occasionally, and has been year one-and-off endorser and player off PRS guitars.
