Diaphyse

The diaphyse (dia: through: phusis: nature, formation), or body osseous, are of tubular form and constitute the longitudinal axis of the bone. It consists of a cylinder of relatively thick compact bone which contains a central medullary canal. In the adults, this channel contains yellow marrow, mainly made up of lipids, and is also called medullary cavity. The vascularization of the osseous Moelle located in its center is carried out by feeder vessels which perforate the diaphyse and carry out an internal blood network.

The osseous growth is only périostée.
