Diane de Joannis de Chateaublanc

Diane de Joannis de Chateaublanc (born in 1635 - died the June 5th 1667 with Ganges, Herault) was a rich person French aristocrat of the 17th century.

Its life

Back-small-niece of Nostradamus, Diane de Joannis de Chateaublanc had married very young person, Dominique de Castellane, with which it was accepted at the court with Versailles. Brown woman of a very great beauty, the marchioness of Castellane was noticed by the king Louis XIV and, twenty years old, she danced with him the 7th ballet of the Night in the role of Artémise in October 1655.

Become widowed, it remarie the August 8th 1658 with Charles de Vissec de Latude de Ganges (1639 - 1736), 1st marquis de Ganges, governor of Ganges, lieutenant of the king of the Finance of Languedoc, which obtains the marquisat the June 30th 1666 (date of registration of the Parlement of Toulouse). They will have two children:

Alexandre, 2nd marquis de Ganges, captain then colonel de Dragons, baron of the Languedoc.
Marie-Esprite (1662 - 1711, which will marry in first weddings Henri de Vezenobres, marquis de Perraud, and in second weddings Paul de Fortia d' Urban, marquis de Fortia.

The March 30th 1663, it becomes the legatee of its rich person grandfather. Feeling threatened by two of her brothers-in-law, it writes his will the May 19th 1664.

After having tested several attempts at poisoning to arsenic, the two brothers-in-law (the abbot and the knight) end up assassinating it the June 5th 1667.

The authors are condemned by the Parlement of Toulouse as of the August 21st 1667 to being broken sharp. In fact they are flee, the abbot in Holland and the knight in Greece, where it will find death with the seat of Crystallized (today Héraklion) in Crete against the Turks.

After the death of his wife, become governor of St-Andre with Villeneuve-the-Avignon, Charles de Vissec de Latude de Ganges will be suspected of complicity of murder, thrown in prison and outlaw for his “neutrality” - we would nowadays say “not assistance to anybody in danger” - in the assassination of his wife. Character without scale, it was weak in front of the perversity of his two brothers assassins.
