Diane Lemieux

Diane Lemieux (born the September 22nd 1961 with Sherbrooke) is a political woman and a Québécois Féministe . It was Député E pequist of Le Bourget (of 1998 with 2007) and parliamentary leader of the opposition (of 2004 with 2007, when its party formed the Official opposition).

Biography

After studies in right to the University of Sherbrooke, she works in the medium of the prevention of the sexual assaults until in 1996.

She sits in the Board of directors of Centraide-Estrie and organizes the Référendum of 1995 in Estrie. At that time, Lemieux directs a research center on the family Violence and made violence to the women.

Delegated in 1995 to the fourth World conference on the women, it is then named, in 1996, president of the Conseil of the statute of the woman of Quebec, a station which it occupies until her candidature for the provincial election of 1998.

Member of the government of Lucien Bouchard, it is Minister for Labor of 1998 with 2001. Under Bernard Landry, it becomes Minister for the Culture and Transport.

Following the election of Jean Charest in 2003, Lemieux sits in the benches of the opposition. Of 2003 with 2004, it chairs the Commission of the economy and work. Then, of 2004 with 2007, it is parliamentary leader of the official opposition and spokesperson of the opposition for the metropolis. Within the framework of this last function, she is opposed in particular to the défusions and supports the epic of preceding the Minister for the municipal Businesses, Louise Harel.

The shortly after the Québécois general election of 2007, Diane Lemieux becomes parliamentary leader of the second group of opposition. One month later, it represents the Parti Québécois during negotiations having milked with the budgets allocated with the parties sitting at the National Assembly. She then shows the democratic Action of Quebec to operate against the Québécois Party. Consequently, she threatens to block the startup parliamentary commissions if its party does not obtain the funds only it asks.

October 17th, 2007 in Quebec, it leaves its station of deputy, putting fine at a political career almost 10 years.
