Diagram state-transitions

A diagram state-transitions is a Schéma used in software Génie to represent automats. It belongs to the model UML and is inspired mainly by the formalism State-charts.

Graphic elements

  • the circle filled indicates the state of beginning; it is optional
  • the hollow circle indicates the state of end; it is optional
  • the rectangle with corners rounded indicates a state. It can be named. The internal actions with the state can be noted in the lower part of the rectangle, separated from the name by a horizontal bar
  • the arrow indicates the transition between two states
  • the noncompetitor under-states can be drawn inside the state
  • Of the features dotted lines can be used to separate in concurrent zones of execution a state. The under-states of the same zone remain not competitors

Transitions

In addition to arrival and the starting states (at least one) (unspecified number), a transition can comprise the following optional elements:

  • an event
  • a condition of guard
  • a list of actions

When the event occurs whereas the starting states are active and that the condition of guard is true then the actions will be started.

States

This execution is enriched when the states define an action of entry and an action of exit: the action of exit of the starting state is carried out initially, then the action of the transition, then the action of the state of arrival.
