Diabolical Masquerade
Diabolical Masquerade was a project of Black metal avant-gardist Swedish. All the music was written and played by the guitarist of Katatonia Blakkheim, of its true name Anders Nyström, which wanted of a group where it could compose of the music more extrème while Katatonia explored atmospheres plus melancholic persons. The music of Diabolical Masquerade is melody Black metal experimental with some influences of the Death metal and the Thrash metal. Blakkheim sought to test more with the structure of the pieces, the topics, and the composition. That can be seen on its last album as Diabolical Masquerade called Death' S Design . This album is perceived like the Original soundtrack of a Film of horror Swedish non-existent, with 61 tracks arranged in 20 movements, each one with its own topic. Although Death' S Design is an album more extrème that any of the recent albums of Katatonia, it includes also many kinds and styles, trying out with the progressive Rock, the progressive Metal, the Background music, the Classical music, as well as rhythmic passages , based on the percussion.
Blakkheim worked with daN Swanö on this project. In September 2004, it was announced that Blakkheim had put the project out of night light after not having been able to find the inspiration necessary for a fifth album.
