Dhikr
Practice of the dhikr (Arab: rear RTL ذِكْر, evocation; mention, recall, repetition (of the name of God) ) is common to all the Islam. However it is in the Soufisme that it takes all its force. That becomes a process to be detached from the world and to arrive to a extase, with the destruction ( fana' ). The dhikr is often accompanied by the use of a kind of chain (rear RTL مِسْبَحة, misbaha; chain ). This practice is justified by these verses of Coran:
-
O you who believe! Often call upon the name of God!
- Rent the morning and evening.
- Coran (XXXIII; 41-42)
- Calls upon your Lord when you forget, and say: “it may be that my Lord directs me towards what is closer than that to the right way. ”
- Coran (XVIII; 24)
- Rent the morning and evening.
The dhikr is distinguished from the meditation ( Fikr ), it consists in repeating a short formula as the Chahada either the 99 names of Allah, or one or more verses of the Coran. According to the brotherhoods, the dhikr can be accompanied by music and dance. There exists several hadihs authentic or the Prophet gives indications of the number of times or the formula must be marked.
People of Sunna and the Consensus consider that the dhikr must be done individually for each believer and in no case to use music and dance considering that the Prophet and best the generations of Moslems after him never proceeded in this manner.
But the dhikr is not only the repetition of formulas, it can prende several forms: the study of Coran in a circle of study is consideree like a dhikr, the study of hadiths in is another, the reading of Coran and same the obligatory prayer is a dhikr like says it this verse of Coran: " And accompis the prayer for the Memory of moi" (" wa aqimi salata Li dhikri") (Sourate Your ha, verse 14).
