History of the principality
The reigning family of Dewas Junior claims same ascent as that of Dewas Senior and Dewas Junior, i.e. the old dynasty of Pawar. The family enorgueillit of a line of 238 generations descending itself from Agnipalak, which would have reigned 4000 years ago. Legendary the Vikramaditya, the largest leader of this dynasty, would have begun its reign with Ujjain, in the Mâlvâ, in -56.The territory of old Puar extended beyond the Narmadâ and included/understood all central and Western India, the Indus forming their border in the west. During centuries, the family would have known various fortunes. The descendants of Vikramaditya were established râja of Bijolya, in the Mewâr and in Dhâr in the Mâlvâ, they are the ancestors of the reigning houses of Dewas and Dhâr.
The family is combined during the 17th century with the rising power marathe providing him several remarkable military chiefs. Sardâr Uddajî râo, cousin of the leaders of Dewas, moves into the fort of Dhâr in 1728, restoring the fortune of its family in central India. The principality signs a draft with the English Compagnie of the Eastern Indies after the defeat of the confederation marathe in 1818.
The principality integrated the state of the Madhya Pradesh.
