Development of Romania

The Romania account among the countries having a raised human development, being located at the 60e place in 2006 (+ 9 positions compared to 2004) according to the Program of the United Nations for the development.

New technologies

Cotidianul published an analysis relating to new technologies in urban environment only (more half of the population).

This study shows that 75,3% of the adult town population can use a computer, and that among them only 43,6% use a computer of house.

Moreover, 85,5% of the urban population hold a computer of house, computer which is used by the adult parents only in 25% of the cases.

Connection Internet is done by copper cable, replaced more and more by fiberoptic. More recently, of offers ADSL compete with the traditional operators of cable in the zones not cabled especially. Among the national suppliers of Internet one counts RCS & RDS (independent) in first and others like Astral Telecom of the group UPC. For the ADSL there is Romtelecom held by EXCEPT.

The edition in Rumanian of Wikipédia is one of 16 more important in 2006, with more than 100.000 articles (32 million speakers - 22,5 in Romania). It exceeds that of the Ukraine (47 million inhabitants) but not that of the Poland.

Education

According to the Program of the United Nations for the development, the rate of elimination of illiteracy is of 97,3%.

Quality of the life

The life expectancy is 71,5 years in 2006 according to UNDP.
