Deux-Acren

Deux-Acren (in Dutch Twee-Akren ) is a section of the common Belgian of Lessines located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.

It was a common to whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977. The commune held its origin of fusion in 1804 of the villages of Acren-Saint-Géréon and Acren-Saint-Martin.

Places and monuments

  • Saint Martin's day Church: It has the effect of having its surmounted bell-tower of 2 cocks. That results owing to the fact that formerly the village was divided into two parts. One spoke then about large Acren and small Acren, each of the two hamlets comprising a church. When the two hamlets were amalgamated to give rise to Deux-Acren, the church took again the cocks of the bell-towers of the two churches (St Géréon and St Martin).

These personalities passed their adolescence in the village:
  • Jean-Claude Drouot, actor of theater and cinema
