Deutschlandradio
Deutschlandradio (written DeutschlandRadio until March 2005, shortened in DLR or DRadio ), is an establishment of German public law producing two national radiophonic networks:
- Deutschlandradio Kultur, a cultural station;
- Deutschlandfunk, station of information.
It has its seats with Berlin and Cologne. It is directed since its creation in 1994 by indendant Ernst Elitz.
History
Part of the radio is resulting from a fusion between various stations existing under divided Germany, as it is in particular the case with the program cultural, formerly DeutschlandRadio Berlin and famous in Deutschlandradio Kultur on March 7th, 2005. This last comes in fact from the old stations RIAS 1, of West Berlin, and Deutschlandsender Kultur, of East Berlin.
Thanks to a treaty signed between the sixteen Länder of the German federal republic, the DLR was established the first January 1994. This treaty fixes the seats of the organization in Berlin and Cologne for the establishment of a program to the national scales. The members of the corporation are ZDF and the members establishments of ARD.
Operation
The direction of the organization returns to indendant which is elected for five years by the Hörfunkrat (radiophonic council), a council interns made up representatives of each Land and groups socially important. This last is to some extent the Parliament of the DLR and he exerts a control on the programming of the waves.
Moreover, in order to examine the economic questions with the intendant, there exists a board of directors ( Verwaltungsrat ) composed of three representatives of Länder and one of the State. The organizations members ARD and ZDF are also present with two representatives.
Musical units
Deutschlandradio does not have overall clean. However, since January 1st, 1994, it is in partnership with Rundfunk Orchester und Chöre GMBH, a limited liability company which manages four units, all intended mainly for broadcasting:
- the Symphony orchestra of the Radio of Berlin ( Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin , RSB);
- the German Symphony orchestra of Berlin ( Deutsches Symphony-Orchester Berlin , DSO);
- the Chorus of the Radio of Berlin ( Rundfunkchor Berlin );
- the Chorus of room of the RIAS ( RIAS Kammerchor ).
