Deutsches Museum
The Deutsches Museum is one of largest the museums of sciences and the Technique in the world. Its principal building is located at Munich, on an island of the Isar. The museum accommodates each year more than 1,5 million visitors.
It was founded the June 28th 1903 at the time of a conference of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure under the initiative of Oskar von Miller.
Collections and exposures
It has in particular an impressive collection of aircraft manufactured by the Germany or abroad by engineers and technicians German during the post-war period (see Opération Paperclip). A part is in the center of Munich (photo of the Museumsinsel = the island with the museum), the remainder in hangars in the north of the city on the Aérodrome of Schleissheim.Since the Réunification of both Germany S it grew rich by models having served in the troops as GDR like various the Mikoyan-Gourevitch (Mig).
One can discover there in particular the rocket S of the type V1 and V2, various Messerschmitt, of many satellite and several prototypes of aircraft on takeoff and vertical landing (v.t.o.l) or short (s.t.o.l).
The appendix of Ober Schleissheim
This appendix is composed of several buildings. A large hall modern is glazed containing a collection of driving S, prototypes of Avion S of the type v.t.o.l, Hélicoptère S and planes having been developed either in Germany, or by German engineers abroad (at the time of the period of post-war period whereas Germany did not have the right to have an aircraft industry), or of the planes of Russian manufacture having previously equipped the army (NVA) with old the East Germany. It includes/understands also a workshop of restoration and an old building which is used to expose models and documents recalling the history of the Aérodrome of Schleissheim
