Deutsche Oper Berlin

The Deutsche Oper Berlin (DOB) is a opera located in the town of Berlin (formerly with West Berlin). It shelters a company of opera, as well as the Staatsballett Berlin .
The building is relatively recent, having been built after the Second world war, however, the history of this opera goes back to the beginning of the century, with the construction of the Deutsches Opernhaus (German opera) with Charlottenburg (western district of Berlin) in 1911. The Deutsches Opernhaus was thus inaugurated on November 7th 1912 with the opera of Beethoven, Fidelio . Into 1925, the name of the opera changed into Städtische Oper (municipal opera), before its name does not become again Deutsches Opernhaus under the influence of the Minister for the propaganda of Hitler, Joseph Goebbels. The opera was finally destroyed on November 23rd 1943.
Arpès the war, the company which used the opera installed with the Theater of the Western for its representations, before the construction of a new building on September 24th 1961. The Deutsche Oper Berlin was thus inaugurated with the opera of Mozart, Don Giovanni .
