Detrital rock

A detrital rock is a Sedimentary rock made up of at least 50  % of remains. If the remains result from the erosion others Roche S, then it is qualified detrital rock terrigenous . If on the contrary the remains are formed by skeletons of living organisms then the rock is described as biodetritic .

The terrigenous detrital rocks represent between 80 and 90  % of the sedimentary rocks.

The detrital rocks are classified in three groups according to the size of the remains:

• Rudite (grains of size higher than 2 mm)
• Arénite
• Lutite

Among the detrital rocks one finds:

• the Clay
• the sandstone
• the breach S
• the Conglomerate S
• the Sand
• the Silt
• the Loess
• the Grauwacke

Among the detrital formations being able to be made up of several types of rocks, one can find:

• For the deposits in continental environment :
• the Colluvium S
• the Alluvia
• the Molasse S

• For the deposits in seamen circle:

• the Turbidity S
• the Flysch S
