Destroyer of clouds
Pourfendeur of clouds ( Cloudsplitter ) is a historical novel of Russell Banks which treats history of the free trade John Brown.
The novel is appeared as a retrospective account by the son of John Brown, Owen Brown, since her hermitage in the Monts Santa Cruz in California. Its reminiscences find their origin in the reception of an invitation of Miss Mayo, assistant of Oswald Garrison Villard, which prepares its biography " then; John Brown: A biography fifty years after " (Boston, 1910).
In this novel, Banks approaches a certain number of questions:
-
the consequences morals of the Radicalism.
-
the fine border which separates the Mental health from the Fanatisme religious: “… the Lord speaks to me. ”
-
How a strong family attachment is also a form of Esclavage.
-
the loss of innocence.
Pourfendeur of clouds is the Amerindian name (Iroquois) of the Mont Marcy (also called Tawahus), culminating point of the Adirondacks.
