Destination universe is a collection, composed in 1952, of ten Nouvelle S of Science-fiction written of 1943 to 1950 by A.E. van Vogt (Canada).

Summaries

Destination Centaur ( Far Centaurus , 1944): Men are sent on mission of long life towards a distance planetary system. With their alarm clock, they discover a world which they could hardly imagine.
the Monster ( The Monster , 1948): Explorers of space discover a desert planet which previously carried the life. Thanks to a biological process of reconstitution, they are able to bring back to the life the various inhabitants of this planet. During one of these tests, they are confronted with an inhabitant with the capacities at the very least surprising.
Alarm clock ( Sleeping , 1948): An unknown object is discovered on an island of the Pacific. Soldiers will try to determine which is its nature for the greatest misfortune of the Earth.
the magic Village ( Enchanted Village , 1950): Human is found captive of a hostile planet to the human life. To survive, it will have to adapt. Read the news to know what means to adapt.
a pot of painting ( has Edge off Paint , 1944): What can one make with an extraterrestrial pot of painting? Only these furtive beings know it.
Defensive ( Defense , 1947): Whereas a space mission approaches the moon for the first time, of the astronauts start a mechanism of defense.
the Masters ( The Rulers , 1944): A doctor of sciences is confronted with a powerful group which dominates planet. He will try to put an end to their criminal activities, despite everything a city which is under their cut.
Correspondence ( Dear PEN Stake , 1949): Extraterrestrial maintains a correspondence with Land. It will be the occasion for him to carry out experiments.
the Sound ( The Sound , 1950): On a futuristic Earth, all the available resources are concentrated towards only one goal: to push back the enemy. Within the framework of an initiation, a young boy seeks the origin of a sound, while facing this enemy. This news is integrated into the War against Rull .
the Search ( The Search , 1943): An amnesic tries to rebuild his past. Its entourage being unable to corroborate that of which he remembers, he starts research to determine what he lived.
