Comments
For this first feature-length film, Stanley Kubrick had a very modest budget (20 000$) which obliged it to carry out itself the major technical part of film.In spite of the inexperience of the actors and the engineering team, the film received good criticisms and was distributed in the Art circuit and Test of New York, marking the recognition of the potential of the young realizer. This film is also the beginning of career of Paul Mazursky more known like realizer.
Stanley Kubrick tardily tried to make disappear this film, regarding it as a film amateur. He repurchased the majority of the copies in circulation but two are always held by the George Eastman House with Rochester (State of New York).
