Design Kit (Microelectronic)

Of micro-electronics, a Design Kit consists in gathering in a kit all the relative informations with a technology given in order to allow the development of the cells necessary to the design of an integrated circuit.

The goal of the Design Kit is to gather this information for a use by automatic tools. For example, the model of the transistors is provided for various electric simulators, such as for example the simulators SPICE .

According to the initial choices, a certain number of tools are selected to make the design, and the Design Kit then provides for each one of them that which it needs in the format which it needs. That can go from things simple to complicated things, for example:

  • a symbol , to represent a resistance in diagrams;

  • of the parameters, to insert in the behavioral equations of a diode;
