Design Kit (Microelectronic)
Of micro-electronics, a Design Kit consists in gathering in a kit all the relative informations with a technology given in order to allow the development of the cells necessary to the design of an integrated circuit.
Information
Transistor…
The first thing required is a model for the components which one can engrave. That covers according to the process the bipolar transistors MOS, Transistor S, the Diode S, the resistance analogical S, capacitées, and other components.
… with the masks…
It is obviously necessary to also provide the list of the masks which come into play for the manufacture of the component. This one is provided in the shape of a list of layers with which the circuits will be drawn. In general, a certain number of Layers CAD are included, which does not enter concerned manufacture, but bring a certain number of information to the tools.
… for the design
A certain number of information are present in this kit in order to make it possible the tools to check that the circuit will be quite realizable. For example, the rules of drawings are present, so that the automatic tools can check the circuit.
In the most modern technologies, the effects due to the imperfection of wire of connections become more important, and the provided Design Kit the basic models allowing to extract the parasitic effects of inter-connected.
For tools CAD
The goal of the Design Kit is to gather this information for a use by automatic tools. For example, the model of the transistors is provided for various electric simulators, such as for example the simulators SPICE .
According to the initial choices, a certain number of tools are selected to make the design, and the Design Kit then provides for each one of them that which it needs in the format which it needs. That can go from things simple to complicated things, for example:
-
a symbol , to represent a resistance in diagrams;
- of the parameters, to insert in the behavioral equations of a diode;
- a list of names, to identify in a single way each to bush-hammer ;
- a series of distances, for the minimal width with which one can engrave a wire…
