Deseret

Deseret is the name of a provisional State of the United States which was created in 1849 and was renamed in 1851 “Territory of Utah”. It will become the State d' Utah in 1896. The first elected governor of the provisional State of Deseret was Brigham Young (1801-1877), second president of the Église of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the Last Days. The word Deseret is drawn from the Livre of Mormon. Deseret is a term Jarédite which means “bee” (see Éther 2:3).
