Dermite of the meadows

The dermite of the meadows ( pastanargue in popular speech) is a phototoxic phyto-dermatosis. One classifies it in the Photodermatose S.

Diagnosis

One notes a red eruption drawing the shape of grass bits disseminated on zones which were exposed to grasses, and with the sun, like in concomittante presence of moisture (sweat, bathe…). These lesions also appear bulleuses, confluent as a majority with the waning of the eruption.

Cause

It is due in contact with the skin with phototoxic plants (furocoumarines), combined with the moisture of the skin and the direct exposure to the sun. The plants in question are (Ombellifères, rutacées… cultivated or wild):

Treatment

To abstain from contact with these plants by the wearing of clothing or a simple avoidance is enough.

The treatment, if not, is symptomatic (disinfectants, dermocorticoïdes).

To prevent the subject of the risk of after-effect to type of linear hyperpigmentation, variable duration.
