In Navigation, the drift is the difference between the road actually followed by a mobile (Navire, Aéronef…) and the course fixed. The drift is due to the Vent and the marine Running (see also relative Vent).

total drift (wind and current) (d) is equal to the difference between the true road (Rv) or road on the bottom and the true course (Cv)
