Derib

Derib , of its true name Claude de Ribaupierre , born the August 8th 1944 with Turn-with-Peilz (Swiss) is a scenario writer and draftsman.

Impassioned by the Indian of America, he is the author of series of cartoons very known like Yakari and Buddy Longway, as well as large saga Indian in two times: That which was born twice and Red Road.

It also creates cartoons intended to help youth in difficulty: OJ (AIDS prevention), No limits (prevention of youthful violence) or For you Sandra (prevention of the prostitution).

Career

He learns art from the data base at Peyo in Brussels where he takes part in the boards of the Schtroumpfs , and publishes many boards which appear in the magazines Spirou , the Newspaper of Tintin and Pilote . He becomes then the friend of Franquin (Gaston Lagaffe, Spirou), of Jijé (Jerry Spring), of Roba (Boule and Bill), Bob de Moor (collaborator of Hergé).

At the 22 years age, it designs the character of Yakari (which takes life thanks to the scenarios of Job). In 1969, the adventures of Pythagore, the strong large-duke in maths appear. With the beginning of the year 1970, Derib conceives Ahlalaaas, small hairy and facetious characters.

In 1974, it creates the trapper Buddy Longway.

In 1981, he undertakes long the saga realistic That which was born twice centered on the Indian culture. In 1988, it creates the series Red Road continuation of the Indian saga at the time contemporary. In 1991, it publishes OJ, major work of 80 pages devoted to the sensibiliation of the young people to the AIDS.
