Derek Harold Richard Barton
Dereck Harold Richard Barton , born on September 8th 1918 with Gravesend and dead on March 16th 1998 with College Station, was an English chemist.
He studied starting from 1938 with the Imperial College of the Université of London. In 1940, it finished its studies and supported a thesis of organic chemistry in 1942. Of 1949 with 1950, it taught as a lecturer invited to the Université Harvard. In 1954, it was elected member of the Royal Society and in 1956, he became member of the Royal Society de Edimbourgh . In 1972, it was annobli.
Barton obtained in 1969, with Norwegian Odd Hassel the Nobel Prize of chemistry for their contribution to the development of the concept of conformation and its application in chemistry.
