Jean-Adam Guilain is a organist and Clavecin ist of German origin active with Paris in the first part of the 18th century. It would have been born towards 1680 and dies after 1739.
Its life is very badly known. It is German, of its true name Jean Adam Guillaume Freinsberg. One does not know in which circumstances it settled in France before 1702. He is undoubtedly disciple or assistant of Louis Marchand to which is dedicated its work. Its disappearance is posterior with 1739, year of publication of a book of harpsichord. The single specimen of this collection of 26 pieces whose quality leaves much to be desired finds in the collection of British Library: " PARTS OF HARPSICHORD/a NEW TASTE/BY Mr. GUILAIN. /Engraved by Nipple Engraver of Roy. /Price 3l. /PARIS HAS. /

It publishes in 1706 a collection, two books, parts of organ for the Magnificat in the eights tons ecclesiastical. Only 4 of these 8 continuations reached us. They are of pure French tradition and very of the same formal structure.
