Departmental museum of salt

The departmental Musée of salt is a museum native of the Moselle region located on the commune of Marsal. It is sheltered in one of the two old strengthened doors of the old fortified town, called “Door of France”.

It is located in the middle of the country of the Saulnois where developed, as of the Âge of Iron, an exploitation of the salt springs on an quasi-industrial scale.

The museum tries to restore with the visitor the process of exploitation of salt. It also presents part of the collections coming from the excavations from the Briquetage from the Pail.
