Department of the Paraná Viola

The department of the Viola Paraná (in Spanish: be Departamento de Alto Paraná ) is one of the 17 departments of the Paraguay. Its code ISO 3166-2 is PA-10.

Capital

Its capital, Ciudad del Este (25°42' S, 54°63' W) was founded in 1957. It initially bore the name of Puerto Flor de Lis, then, until in 1989, that of Puerto President Stroessner of the name of the dictator Alfredo Stroessner. She counted 239.500 hearts in 2003.
