Department of Yoro

The department of Yoro (in Spanish: be Departamento de Yoro) is one of the 18 departments Honduras.

History

The department was created in 1825, after the independence of the federal republic of the plain Provinces of Central America.

Geography

The department of Yoro is bordering:
  • in north, of the department of Atlántida,
  • in the east, of the departments of Colón and Olancho,
  • in the south, of the departments of Francisco Morazán and Comayagua,
  • in the west, of the department of the Cortes.

It has a surface of 7.939 km ².
