Department of Tupungato
The Tupungato is an Argentinian department located at the North-East of the country.
Situation
The territory holds its name of the volcano Tupungato.
Agriculture
The Tupungato is a basically agricultural department. The principal culture is the Vigne which accounts for 30% of sown surfaces. The largest surface corresponds to the culture of the Fruit S, with all its varieties. Among them detach, after vine, exploitation of To drown S (nogales) with the result that one qualified the department of “capital of nut”, then the Cerise S. After these two cultures, it is the fishing which carries it. Follow the Pomme S and the Poire S (in the valley of " Uco" especially). With more small scales one finds plum S, membrillo S i.e. French quinces, and damasco S.
The Légume S follow in importance with a total of 5.500 hectares in production. The Papaye constitutes the principal departmental culture. In importance the Tomate follows, with a notable increase in sown surfaces these last years, being given the establishment in the department of industrial companies and with novel methods which increase the productivity of the grounds. The culture of the garlic, the Onion and the Carotte develop too. One sows some annually between 700 and 1000 hectares. A less percentage applies to the cultures of Piment, the Cucurbitacée S and other vegetables.
