Department of San Antonio (Río Negro)

The department of San Antonio in Argentinian, is a department located in the province of Río Negro, in Patagonie, in the zone of the littoral of the Atlantic Ocean, called Argentinian Mer here. Its chief town is the town of San Antonio Oeste.

Its population was of 23.972 inhabitants in 2001 (census), which represented a density of 1,7 habitants/km ². According to the estimates of the INDEC, in 2005 the department counted 30.460 inhabitants.

Its surface is of 14.015  km ².

Another city, small but important, is San Antonio Este, seaport out of deep water created in 1982 and which drains the main part of exports of the province (fruits in particular).
