Department of Madriz

The department of Madriz (in Spanish: be Departamento de Madriz ) is one of the 15 departments Nicaragua. It extends on: 1602 km ² and have a population of: 133300 hab. (estimate 2005). Its capital is Somoto.

Geography

The department is bordering:

in north, of the department of Nueva Segovia;
in the east, of the department of Jinotega;
in the south, of the department of Estelí;
in south-west, of the department of Chinandega;
in the west, of the republic of the Honduras.
